Approximately fifty automobiles have been smeared with what appears to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were defaced, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they stated in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.
The substance had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Officers then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi symbols.
Law enforcement say early analysis show the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials said they were trying "to solve the case" and have requested to the residents for details.
A senior official stated the vandalism made him stunned and needed to be solved promptly.
"This act affects the center of Hanau and reopens the pain of the far-right attack in 2020," he posted on social media, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on residents of migrant background in February 2020.
