“That was regrettable. That was essentially an interaction with our fans seated near me,” Jones explained during a Tuesday interview. “There was a large group of Cowboys fans—not New York fans, Cowboys fans. The whole venue was brimming with enthusiasm for the Cowboys.”
He further clarified that the signal was entirely unintentional, occurring amid the elation following the team’s last score. “I simply showed the incorrect finger,” he noted. “The action was accidentally performed. I’m not kidding. If you want to call it accidental, you can. But it got corrected pretty quick.”

This is not the first time an league proprietor has been penalized for misconduct. Previous cases involve:
- Carolina Panthers proprietor Tepper was fined $300,000 for throwing a drink at fans in January 2024.
