Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has beaten Oscar Piastri at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and championship contender Oscar Piastri for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by a single point after winning in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Melbourne-born driver by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying with a 36-point deficit behind Norris, finished in P17 as his team opted for a alternative strategy.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to crash, albeit lightly, when he rotated at the fourth corner early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the fence.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner approaching the final corner on to the start-finish straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in P19, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
Norris and Piastri were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds off Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth quickest, with the Sauber of Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and Alpine's Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
