It's difficult for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have been successfully scaled.

This is the squad that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are all that remain for a side that has accomplished all there is.

The fact it required until Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in the female 50-over format, is, frankly, a testament to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It's difficult for their batters to possess a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Ultimately, the result of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy being given an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of famous ex Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she made her debut in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the T20 or ODI World Cups from the prior year and has witnessed all through 15 trophy-laden years since.

Success in the T20 World Cup arrived three months after her bow and seven global championships have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was present as well in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy said this week.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the title decider and was named player of the tournament. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

Whether this recent magnificent innings surpassed that earlier display can be debated.

Some will argue the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What is certain is this century was far harder to predict.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"For those following me in training, it has been a disappointing period because it seemed I lacked timing at all," said Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the competition."

Healy's fighting spirit has continuously been her great strength - and a priceless quality in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was challenged by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the opening delivery and after that the right-hander was underway.

"An opportunity to go out there and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself that way, kind of motivated me," commented Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her ton in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, striking 21 boundaries and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed the team required another 66 at run per delivery - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Pursuing 330 is new territory so I'm happy we have the belief to accomplish that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this tournament need to hear.

During the last week a feeling they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this triumph following win against Pakistan by 107-run victory despite struggling at 76-7 at a certain moment.

Next Australia play Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may likely be confirmed.

During that phase they exited last year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to torn tissue in her foot as she guided Australia for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

Such is her determination, she later said she regretted not playing through the pain.

Yet even as she later admitted those injuries have pushed back thoughts of retirement, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is hasn't yet secured a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would lead her to the peak of her last major obstacle.
